Hello children,

We are really looking forward to meeting you this week!

We also have a fun activity for you to do at home - a Scavenger Hunt!  We would love to see a photo of you with all your 'treasures' which we will hang in Reception Class, ready for when you start in September. (Parents, please email to admin@stmarysbs.org.uk)

Friday 18th June 2021 - Year 5's Tour of the School and Parent Questionnaire

Year 5 have created a video of some of the key areas of the school, to help familiarise the new pupils and parents with St Mary's. They hope you enjoy it!

We have also sent you a questionnaire through the ParentMail app to enable you to ask any questions you have following the information videos below.

Thursday 10th June 2021 - A welcome and presentation from the Head Teacher, Kathy Burden .....

Due to the pandemic and social distancing measures, for the second year we have recorded all the information that we would normally give parents at our Open Evening. This worked well last year and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you many have via a short questionnaire next week or at the induction sessions.

You will also be receiving a notification through the ParentMail app to book an appointment with the class teachers. These will be 10 minute virtual meetings and will be run through Microsoft Teams.  The meeting invitation will be sent to you shortly before the meeting.

Thursday 27th May 2021 - Induction Letters and Information Packs

Many thanks to everyone that has already connected to our ParentMail app. Today we are sending you an induction letter, with details of all the plans for Term 6. We also have the information packs completed - these can be collected from the school office or will be sent via a sibling if they have one in school and any remaining will be posted after school tomorrow. Please return the completed response packs as soon as you can.

Tuesday 25th May - A welcome from the Buddies

One of the most  valuable relationships in the school is that of the Reception and Year 6 Buddies (even when socially distanced!). All Reception children are given a Year 6 Buddy who will help them settle in, get to know the school and act as a role model. They make them feel safe in their new environment and set a good example to them in terms of behaviour and attitude.

Here are our current Year 5 buddies sending a welcome to the children starting with us in September - their future Buddies!

You should have received an initial letter by now, with details of how we will be communicating with you in the future (Welcome Letter). Please remember to email your details to us, so we can get you set up on the ParentMail communication app.

Due to the CoronaVirus Pandemic, the induction process is going to be different from normal years  but will hopefully include a combination of in-person and virtual sessions. We will continue to monitor the latest regulations and the safety and wellbeing of everyone will remain our priority.  We will endeavour to do everything we can to ensure the smoothest induction and transition for your child.  Details of how we hope to do this will be with you over the next few weeks.
