Friday 29th January 2016......
Congratulations to the six KS1 children who took part in the Catholic Cluster Multi Skills Festival held here, at St Mary’s, today! They performed brilliantly and represented the school really well. Well done to Caoimhe, Oscar C, Courtney, Francis, Ethan and Sriya. I would also like to say a huge thank you to the group of Year 6 children who helped me to run the festival. There were six schools involved and all schools commented on how helpful and enthusiastic the children were. Well done to Jacob, Pietro, Charmaine, Sravya, Ben, Eden, Sophie, Jasmine  and Julia.

St Bernadette’s class had a great time at St Bedes last Friday afternoon. We learnt all about chemical reactions and how to tell when this had happened, due to colour or change of state.

Ryan: My favourite bit was the balloons exploding

Emily: I liked it when the scientists made the foam explode – it was bicarbonate soda and vinegar

Sebastian: my favourite was when they shook the bottle of acid and it changed colour – it went blue to yellow.

St Elizabeth’s class were very excited to come back to school on Monday and they couldn’t wait to share all of their exciting stories about the Christmas holidays. Miss Simpson also had some exciting news and when she got the children to guess what it was the guesses included:

  • Have you had a baby?
  • Were you kissed by a boy?
  • Did you get another dog?
  • Did you run five half marathons?

Miss Simpson then shared with the class that she had got engaged. When asking the class if they knew what being engaged meant the reply was, “It means you’ve found someone who loves you and who will love you forever.”

St Elizabeth’s class are getting reading Roald Dahl’s The Twits to help with their character descriptions. Before we read the story we made our own hairy faces thinking about the different materials and textures on a hairy face!
