Charity

At St Mary’s, we focus our work on helping others through the principles of Catholic Social Teaching (CST). Rooted in Scripture, shaped by Church wisdom, and inspired by real-world action, CST is our moral compass — guiding us to live out our faith with compassion, justice, and love.

“An authentic faith — which is never comfortable or completely personal — always involves a deep desire to change the world, to transmit values, to leave this earth somehow better than we found it.” — Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium

We teach our pupils that those who are able should give to help those in need. This may take the form of donations, fundraising, or acts of service. For example, our school choir sings at Christmas for the residents of Osborne Court Assisted Living, bringing joy and companionship to members of our local community.

Through these experiences, children learn that faith is not just something we speak — it’s something we live. By following in the footsteps of Christ, we aim to build a school community that reflects the justice, peace, and love of God in all we do.
