Leaders in Faith

At St Mary’s, we are proud to support our children in deepening their understanding of faith through meaningful experiences both locally and globally. One of the ways we celebrate this journey is through the Leaders in Faith Award, a programme recognised by the Clifton Diocese.

Children in Key Stage 2 are guided through the award, which begins at Bronze level and progresses through Silver, Gold, and finally Platinum. Each stage encourages pupils to engage in thoughtful dialogue, take action inspired by Catholic Social Teaching, and reflect on their role as leaders in faith.

We are delighted to announce that after Christmas, the Leaders in Faith Award will also be launched for Key Stage 1 and Reception. This exciting development means that even our youngest children will have the opportunity to begin their journey as faith leaders, exploring age-appropriate challenges and experiences that help them grow spiritually and socially.

The completion of each award level is celebrated during our whole school celebration assembly, where children are presented with a certificate in recognition of their commitment and achievement.

Please see the attachment below for an overview of the challenges set at each stage. We look forward to seeing every child at St Mary’s flourish as a Leader in Faith.

Live Simply Award

At St Mary’s, we are proud to be working towards the LiveSimply Award — a national scheme that recognises schools living:

  • Simply

  • Sustainably with creation

  • In solidarity with people living in poverty

This award reflects our deep commitment to putting faith into action. Inspired by the teachings of Jesus, Catholic Social Teaching, and Laudato Si’, we have pledged to complete nine faith-inspired actions that will make a meaningful impact on our global family, our local community, and our school environment.

Throughout 2025, our pupils and staff will take part in a range of activities that promote care for creation, thoughtful living, and compassion for others. These actions will help us reflect on how we live, how we share, and how we serve — together as a community of hope.

We look forward to sharing our progress and celebrating the steps we take on this journey. Our planned activities for the year are listed below.
