Parental Consultation
Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education
This is the first RSHE curriculum update since it became mandatory in September 2020 and reflects the changes across society and technology.
Overall – the new guidance is more positive and helpful for both children and teachers.
What is changing?
- Small updates (“tweaks”) to existing lessons to reflect new statutory guidance
- e.g. clearer teaching on safety, friendships, wellbeing, and asking for help
- Greater focus on online safety and influences, helping children navigate the digital world
- A small amount of new content, including:
- Short video clips (“Classroom Shorts”)
- A few additional sessions on topics like relationships, safety, and health
- Updated materials to ensure teaching reflects current issues and guidance

Dear Parents and Carers,
In 2020, Relationships Education and Health Education became statutory for all primary schools in England.
As a Catholic school, our mission is to support the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of all our pupils, rooted in the wisdom and teaching of the Church. The education of children in human sexuality is an important, precious and privileged responsibility. The Church teaches us that this is very much a partnership with parents, in which parents are the ‘first educators’ of their children on these matters; ultimately, you confer on us the right to co-educate your children with you.
We have been using Life to the Full by Ten Ten Resources, an award-winning Catholic educational organisation well respected and experienced in this field. This programme has been approved by our diocese and aligns with statutory requirements while maintaining a strong Catholic ethos. Ten Ten Resources have partnered with the Catholic Education Service and the Department for Education to provide training for teachers in Catholic schools on the statutory RHE curriculum. The programme also includes resources for parents, ensuring you are informed and involved in your child’s learning.
Although we have already been delivering Ten Ten in school, we believe it is good practice to reach out periodically to gather your feedback. Ten Ten Resources have provided an online Parent Consultation Tool, which is a short course explaining the statutory changes in England, the Catholic vision for Relationships and Health Education, how Life to the Full fulfils the curriculum with a Catholic ethos, key decisions for consultation, and answers to frequently asked questions.
You can access the Parent Consultation Tool here:

Login details have been sent to you
Please complete the course and then share your feedback via our questionnaire:

Deadline for feedback: Thursday 18th December
We hope this consultation reassures you about the programme and provides an opportunity for our school community to work together in partnership.
Thank you for your continued support.
