Celebrating Excellence through our Faith and Learning
Welcome to Reception - Mrs Turnbull and Mrs Lever's class.
Please see below a topic overview of what we will be learning in Term 4, along with a curriculum overview for the year.
Wednesday 18th December 2018 - Our Christmas Play, Around the World
We learned so much during our Christmas Play! We learned all about how children around the world prepare and celebrate the season of Christmas. In Poland, Ireland, China, Australia, Malawi and the USA, children have their own special customs and traditions. At the heart of all these special customs and traditions is the birth of the baby Jesus, God’s son, the light of the world. We remember the angels, Mary, Joseph and all the other important figures.
We loved learning all the songs and words!
We worked together as one big team, preparing for our big event and celebrating all our special talents and skills. We shared so much during these rehearsals and our play was a great success.
10th October 2018 - Humpty Dumpty
St George's Class successfully carried out their first science experience this week. After learning the Humpty Dumpty Nursery Rhyme, they were tasked with predicting which material would ‘save’ Humpty when he fell off the wall. They then carried out the experiment and recorded the results. The children enjoyed it so much they are already planning Humpty’s next accident!
26th September 2018 - Settling in
The children in Reception have settled in quickly and have made a great start to school life. For most, the highlight of the week was their first Forest Friday session. We all went on a bug hunt to discover all the mini-beasts that live in and around our school pond.”
