Celebrating Excellence through our Faith and Learning
The ECO-Council is made up of 12 pupils - 2 from each class, from Year 1 up to Year 6 - plus staff members. It is also open to parishioners, parents and governors who would like support the work of the ECO team. The council meets approximately once a term on Thursdays after school from 3:30pm – 4:30pm, as well as during lunch times when necessary.
The aim of the council is to raise awareness of environmentally friendly principles and to support the school in applying an environmentally friendly approach. The Eco-Council representatives in each class are responsible for promoting eco-friendly actions, such as turning off lights, turning off the interactive whiteboard when not in use, monitoring the use of paper and ensuring paper is recycled sensibly. The Eco-Council has also initiated a litter picking rota and been fully involved in the school garden – growing our own vegetables and composting.
The Eco-Council is currently working towards the ECO School Green Flag Award.
